Formation & process
How long does registration usually take?
Allow around 3–5 business days once all required original documents are complete and correctly prepared. Missing information, translation work and processing by the authorities can extend the timeline.
Can I set up the company and bank account without travelling?
Yes. You do not need to travel to Georgia for company formation or account opening through StartKap. We handle the local process under a power of attorney and coordinate the bank’s approved remote procedures. You prepare the required certified and apostilled documents in your country of stay. The bank remains responsible for reviewing and approving the account application.
Can foreign nationals form a company?
Generally, yes. Sanctions, anti-money-laundering requirements, bank policies or other compliance checks may impose restrictions in individual cases. Have your particular circumstances assessed in advance.
How is my preferred company name checked?
Tell us your preferred name. StartKap checks availability and possible conflicts with existing entries. The registration authority decides whether the name can be registered.
When can the company start trading?
After registration you receive the official company documents and identification number. Business activity can generally begin at that point. Depending on the activity, permits or further registrations may be required first.
Documents & costs
Which documents should I prepare?
The usual requirements include certified passport copies and powers of attorney with apostilles. The exact set depends on your company type, residence and the service commissioned.
Agree the requirements with StartKap beforehand. The homepage’s document checklist helps you prepare.
Who pays for certification, apostilles and delivery?
You pay for certification and apostilles in your country of origin or residence. Translation into Georgian and further processing in Georgia fall within the agreed package scope.
You also pay for delivery to Georgia unless your quotation states otherwise. Confirm the individual scope with StartKap; the package overview provides an initial guide.
Banking & liability
What liability applies to an individual entrepreneur?
A Georgian individual entrepreneur generally has personal liability; it is not a separate legal entity with limited liability. An LLC may be more suitable if limiting liability matters to your plans. The choice should fit your particular business.
Does StartKap assist with business and personal bank applications?
Yes. StartKap helps prepare and submit the relevant account applications. The bank decides whether to open an account after its checks. Application support therefore does not guarantee account approval.
